Morpheus
Radiofrequency microneedling: the needle carries heat into the depth. Florence clinic only.
Morpheus combines two principles usually used separately: microneedling, the controlled micro-injury that stimulates repair, and radiofrequency, which delivers heat into the dermis. The difference from plain microneedling lies entirely here: the needles do not merely perforate, they carry energy to a chosen depth.
The rationale is collagen remodelling. Heat applied at depth causes an immediate contraction of the fibres and, above all, triggers the production of new collagen in the following weeks. This is why the result is not seen straight away: it builds over the following months, and judging it a few days after the session leads to the wrong conclusions.
Indications concern skin quality and firmness — irregular texture, laxity, acne scarring — on the face and on some areas of the body. The working depth is adjusted according to the area and the objective, and it is the parameter the physician sets case by case.
A recovery period must be allowed for: in the hours afterwards the skin is red and warm, and for some days the grid left by the needles may remain visible. This is not a complication, it is the expected course — but it is information you need in order to choose when to do it, not whether.
How the treatment works
Medical assessment of the skin and definition of the objective: texture, firmness and scarring are not approached in the same way.
Application of an anaesthetic cream to the area, allowing the time needed for it to work.
Passes with the handpiece, which at each application inserts the needles to the set depth and delivers the radiofrequency.
Immediately afterwards: redness and a sensation of heat, as after long sun exposure.
In the following days the grid left by the needles may remain visible, then fade.
Sun protection and gentle cleansing during recovery, following the advice given at the session.

FAQ
What is the difference from ordinary microneedling?+
Microneedling works by mechanical micro-injury: the needles stimulate repair, and that is all. Morpheus adds radiofrequency, that is, heat delivered to a set depth through the needles themselves. The mechanism changes: not only a superficial repair stimulus, but a thermal effect on the dermis. Indications, the intensity of the recovery and the timing of results change accordingly.
How long before it shows?+
Not straight away, and this is what causes most disappointment when it is not said beforehand. In the days after the session the skin is still recovering, so judging it then makes no sense. Collagen remodelling occurs over the following weeks and months: that is the horizon on which it is judged, and why the review is scheduled later.
How many days of recovery should I allow?+
Redness and heat are immediate and last a few hours; the grid left by the needles may remain visible for some days, with real individual variability linked also to the intensity set. In practice this means choosing the timing: it is not a treatment to have the day before an event.
Is it available in Siena?+
No. Morpheus is available only at the Florence clinic, Viale Augusto Righi 19. It is one of the few treatments not offered at both sites, and we prefer to say so here rather than let you discover the journey when booking.
