Dermatoscopic diagnosis

Close-up analysis of moles and skin lesions.

Dermoscopy allows moles and skin lesions to be observed with dedicated magnification, revealing features not visible to the naked eye. It is an essential tool for early diagnosis.

It is used both in the assessment of individual suspicious lesions and in periodic check-ups to monitor any changes over time.

Dermatoscopic diagnosis

How the treatment works

The examination is performed with a dermatoscope, an optical instrument that illuminates and magnifies the lesion, allowing its sub-surface structures to be observed. It is non-invasive, painless and requires no preparation.

The physician assesses shape, colour, borders and the arrangement of pigmented structures. Lesions that warrant attention can be documented with images, so they can be compared at subsequent check-ups.

The Skinfarm path

  1. 1Dermatoscopic examination of the lesion or indicated areas
  2. 2Photographic documentation, when useful for comparison
  3. 3Assessment of the findings and explanation to the patient
  4. 4Indication of follow-up checks or further investigation

FAQ

Is the examination painful or invasive?+

No. The dermatoscope rests on the skin and causes no pain and leaves no marks. No preparation is needed and there are no after-effects.

How does it differ from mole mapping?+

Dermoscopy is the examination itself, also used on individual lesions. Mapping is a structured path that documents moles over time so they can be compared at subsequent check-ups.
